2018 U.S. OPEN LOCAL QUALIFIER

DAKOTA DUNES COUNTRY CLUB, MONDAY, MAY 14, 2018

 

Congratulations on being selected to compete in the Local Qualifier for the 117th U.S. Open Championship.

 

SCHEDULE: The local qualifier is scheduled for Monday, May 14, 2018 at Dakota Dunes Country Club located at 960 S. Dakota Dunes Boulevard, Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. The rain date is May 15, 2018.

 

FIELD: A total of 30 players are entered. Two (2) players will automatically advance to Sectional Qualifying. ) alternate spots will also be determined.

 

FORMAT: This is a local qualifier and is an 18-hole stroke-play competition. In the case of a tie for the final qualifying place(s) or any of the alternate places, the players involved shall immediately play off hole-by-hole. If you are not present at the time of starting, you will receive the final alternate spot available. A playoff will begin on the hole designated by The Committee.

 

STARTING TIMES: Please note your starting time on the enclosed pairing sheet and schedule yourself to arrive at least an hour before your starting time to allow proper time to prepare for the event.  Player information will be available on the 1st tee prior to your start time. Information is also available at www.sdga.org under “Championships”.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS:  Please call Dakota Dunes Country Club directly at (605) 232-3080 and identify yourself as a contestant when scheduling your practice round. Dakota Dunes CC will begin allowing practice times Tuesday May 1st, based on availability. The cost of the practice round is $45 per player, (a discounted guest rate).  Caddies may play during the practice round at full guest rate (contact Dakota Dunes for rate details based on time/day).  Players must call ahead for practice round tee times. 

 

CADDIES: Caddies are permitted. Players must walk at all times during the stipulated round. No motorized carts may be used at the qualifier or the Championship except those approved under the ADA guidelines, which may be found at www.usga.org/champs/ada

 

DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES:  Distance measuring devices are not permitted during competition rounds.

 

SPIKE POLICY: Dakota Dunes Country Club is a spikeless golf club.

 

FOOD & BEVERAGE:  Limited food & beverage options will be available in the clubhouse area on the day of competition.  Water will be available throughout the course for players.

 

EQUIPMENT: Please ensure your equipment conforms to the standards established by the United States Golf Association. The “One-Ball Rule” will be in effect, which means you must play the same brand and compression ball throughout your stipulated round. In Local (first stage) and Sectional (second stage) Qualifying as well as in the Championship proper, your clubs must conform to the groove specifications in the Rules of Golf effective January 1, 2010. Note: Ping EYE2 clubs manufactured prior to April 1990 may not be used during Local and Sectional Qualifying as well as the Championship proper. RANGE BALLS: The driving range will open at 8 a.m. on the day of competition.  Range balls are complimentary.
